YouTube is a free video-sharing website that makes it easy to watch videos online. You can even create and upload your own videos to share with others. Originally created in 2005, YouTube is now one of the most popular sites on the web, with visitors watching around 6 billion hours of video each month.
If you have ever seen a video online, there is a good chance that it is a YouTube video. For example, most of the educational videos on our site are actually YouTube videos!

Why is YouTube important?

Is YouTube suitable for everyone ؟

Watch YouTube videos
Now that you know the basics, you're ready to dive in and start watching YouTube videos. Watching YouTube videos is very simple. When you're watching a video, you'll find some controls at the bottom of the video player (if you don't see them, just move your mouse over the video). This allows you to adjust the volume, make the video full screen, turn on captions, and more.

There are two basic ways to watch a YouTube video: directly on the YouTube website, or as an embedded video on another site. The above video is hosted (or stored) by YouTube, but is embedded on our website. This means that you can watch it here without going to YouTube. However, if you prefer, you can click the little YouTube button near the bottom right corner of the video player to watch the video directly on the YouTube website.
Sign in to YouTube
Although not necessarily required, we recommend that you sign in to YouTube. Signing in allows you to like and comment on videos you find, share videos more easily, and even upload and edit your own videos.
You will need a Google account to sign in to YouTube. If you don't have a Google Account, just follow these instructions from the Google Account tutorial to learn how to create one.
Browse YouTube
Once you have a Google account, you are ready to sign in and start watching videos. Simply go to www.youtube.com, click Sign In in the top right corner, and enter your Google account information.
Once you're signed in, the YouTube homepage will appear, and you'll see popular and trending videos, recommended videos for, and more. If you see a video you want to watch, just tap it to start playing.

Subscribe to YouTube channels
Channels are one of the coolest parts of YouTube, providing quick access to all the videos from the same creator. Subscribing to channels is a bit like creating your own TV network, but only with the videos you want to watch.
- When you see the Subscribe button, just click on it to subscribe to that channel.
- Once you've subscribed to a channel, you can select Subscriptions in the directory to view recent videos from the channels you've added. You can also select individual channels from the Subscriptions section of the guide to watch more videos from a particular channel.
- If you're looking for new channels to add, you can select Browse Channels near the bottom of the guide to see popular YouTube channels organized by category.
Download the YouTube application for Android
