Sony adds accessibility tags to the PlayStation Store on PS5
Sony was one of the first companies to support accessibility options in its various exclusive titles to help players with determination enjoy PlayStation exclusives, and in a new step that indicates the company's interest in this segment of users, the upcoming accessibility tags feature was announced to the PlayStation Store within a week.
Sony said on the PlayStation blog that these tags will enable developers to provide detailed insight into the accessibility features supported in their games, and that feature will be rolled out next week globally.
There will be over 50 accessibility tags for developers to choose from across six categories including:
- Visual – such as clear text, large text, color alternations, audio cues, and directional audio indicators.
- Audio - such as volume controls, screen reader and visual cue alternatives.
- Subtitle and caption – such as large subtitle and caption size.
- Control - such as button remapping, joystick sensitivity, ability to play without pressing buttons, quick button presses, or motion control.
- Gameplay - such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified interactive situations, and game speed.
- Online communication - such as text or voice chat transcription.
Accessibility tags for PS5 and PS4 games will be available on the PlayStation Store and will be for the PS5 platform only. The list of games supporting the service was revealed at the time of launch and includes Days Gone, Death Stranding Director's Cut, Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, God of War and God of War. War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal.
